"Outlaws in Love"
"Lock Jaws"

Outlaws in Love is a queer Western art series symbolizing the search for love and freedom in the Wild West. Featuring over 60 sketches, it explores hidden, domesticated relationships between gay cowboys, inspired by classic Western films and the iconic style of Tom of Finland. Rooted in the artist's early years living in Cheyenne, Wyoming, where life was filled with country music, rodeos, nature, and handsome cowboys, this series reflects a formative time when the artist realized his sexuality at a young age. Critiquing homophobic conservative legislation, this exhibition is the first in a planned series of thirteen. Dickscoveries’ "Outlaws in Love" was the headlining artist for the Long Beach Arts Council at Long Beach Pride, showcased in Starfuckker Magazine, and featured monthly at Jeremy Lucido’s “Hogtied” country night at Precinct Nightclub in downtown LA. It has also participated in two Dandyland Erotic Markets, furthering its mission to celebrate queer love and creativity. The project continues to evolve with exciting collaborations, including work with artist Zach Grear, SuperTwunk, and album artwork for queer country singer Paisley Fields.

Lock Jaws is the second chapter of DICKSCOVERIES, inviting audiences to “Outlaws Beach Club,” inspired by Blacks Beach and Gay Head Beach. This series explores the interplay of fear and desire through the symbolism of the great white shark, coinciding with JAWS’ upcoming 50th anniversary. Christopher reflects on his early erotic experiences and his journey as an openly gay man, encouraging viewers to confront their fears. Drawing inspiration from his upbringing in Florida and California, where he spent considerable time at the beach, as well as summers in Martha’s Vineyard and with family in New England, the exhibition highlights his struggle as a closeted gay man grappling with his secret and developing an interest in more feminine activities. It was during this time that he discovered gay nude beaches and further explored his sexuality through various influences. The "Lock Jaws" exhibition was featured at San Diego Pride, Las Vegas Pride, and GayWatch in Venice Beach. It has also been displayed at BabyGay and the Black Cat historical bar, in coordination with the Los Angeles City Council, marking the city as the first major city to recognize National Coming Out Day. The exhibition advocates for the preservation of nude beaches and the creation of more clothing-optional spaces.

"Ghosted"

Ghosted is the third exhibition in the DICKSCOVERIES project, exploring love and death within the queer community. This exhibition celebrates the experiences of being ghosted and the complexities of ghosting, delving into themes of grief and longing, particularly in light of the higher rates of death due to suicide and other factors faced by many in the community. Creating a space for dialogue about loss and struggles, it expands on the artist's creativity through video and photography. It features "Phantom Phallacies," an ongoing collective of erotic ghost stories by queer authors, along with "Booz' and Boners," an erotic cocktail menu, and the photo series "Under the Sheets," which explores erotic hauntings in historically haunted locations. This work aims to reestablish, dedicate, and pay tribute to erased queer culture in American history. "Ghosted" had the privilege of debuting at Fred and Jason's 18th Annual Halloweenie Event, and as it continues to evolve, it will incorporate new ideas and collaborations, further deepening its exploration of queer identity, loss, and the transformative power of community.
